Account warmup

SafetyAlso: warmup, warm-up period

The gradual ramp-up of activity on a new or dormant social account to establish a normal baseline before running higher-volume automation.

New accounts are held to a different standard than established ones. A platform expects a fresh account to browse more than it acts, to build connections slowly, and to earn a reasonable acceptance rate before it sends volume. Warmup is the practice of matching that expectation on purpose.

A typical warmup ramps over about four weeks: heavy browsing and light engagement in week one, comments and a handful of connection requests in week two, a gradual climb toward half of the platform caps by week four, and full operation after that.

Skipping warmup is one of the most common reasons new accounts get restricted. A two-week-old account running at full volume looks nothing like a real new user, and the account's age and short history make the platform quicker to act.

Frequently asked questions

How long should account warmup take?

Roughly a month for a new account. Browse heavily in week one, add light engagement in week two, reach about 50% of caps by week four, then full volume.

Do established accounts need warmup?

Less so, but a dormant account resuming after a long gap benefits from a shorter ramp rather than jumping straight back to full volume.
